Dr Madineni Venkat Ratnam of the National Atmospheric Research Laboratory, Tirupati won the prize under the Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary Sciences category.

Madineni Venkata Ratnam,  was born on January 21, 1973 in Armoor, Nizamabad Dt, India. Son of Madineni Ramayya and Madineni Aademma.

Education: Bachelor of Science, Giriraj Goverment degree college, Nizamabad, 1994. Master of Science, Osmania University, Hyderabad, 1997. Doctor of Philosophy, Sri Venkateshwara University, Tirupati, India, 2001.

Career: Post doctoral fellow Department of Physics, National central University, Chung-Li, Taiwan, 2001—2002. Scientist Institute for Meteorology, University Leipzig, Leipzig, Germany, 2002—2003. Japan society for promotion of science fellow RISH, Kyoto University, Uji, Japan, since 2003.
